Title: OT: Rugby
Post by: BenWH on March 08, 2008, 05:34:29 PM
Totally off topic, but I just had to share that England are tactical novices at rugby and it's time for the coach to go. There, got that off my chest.

Can anyone suggest another country that I can adopt? I'm thinking Wales, but I don't want to drag them down...

Wales were good against Ireland yesterday.

Mind you, we pretty much threw the game away with that stupid sub...

I think that's where they play football without lines, pads, or rules. :D

Just kidding.

Ohhhh!  So it's like pretend football, I see.

btw, a question in answer to the original question.  If you're a fan of a team over there, you have to stay a fan and you're not allowed to switch even if your current team really sucks (cough, niners) (cough, giants) is that correct?

So, wales wouldn't have been too bad a back-up choice after all!  :)

my mother would kill me if I didn't support scotland in the rugby... but it's been a difficult past few years!  :-\

Niners?!?!?  Blasphemer!  How dare you speak badly about my Niners!!!  Thou shalt rot in Cania for your insolence!  Besides, don't you live closer to *cough* Denver!  :P

I've been a Niners fan since the late 80s regardless of where I live.  As a fan, I can say that they suck right now.  However, I am still a loyal fan.  Patrick Willis rocks though.

Don't feel bad, I'm a Dolphins Fan. I think they're going to move us to college ball so we might actually stand a chance.

I'm so sorry.  I think you stand a good chance to take the division this year though.  I don't think the patriots will recover from spygate and a superbowl loss.  You heard it here first.

LIES!  BLASPHEMY!  I'm a die-hard pats fan and you're just bitter because WE ARE TEH BEST!  Granted, the Giants defense stomped on our faces a bit, but that doesn't make us any less dominant.

Predictions:

-The Better Manning wins the superbowl (I'm a Peyton fan first, a Patriots fan also first--sometimes difficult to juggle)
-The Patriots dominate...again.
-The Giants have a year completely devoid of anything noteworthy
-Eli has a mediocre-to-bad year and everyone acts surprised

You heard it here first.

All I have to say is 18-1!  Apparently the Pats can't win unless someone's filming the defense.  :P

Good predictions.  I predict that the Dolphins will beat the Cardinals in the Superbowl.  Not only did you hear it here first, but this is the only place you will here it.   ;D

The Cardinals?...hmmn...good idea! We might stand a chance against a baseball team...if they don't show up. :(

Oh well, some day we will be back in the winning circle, just have to be patient. :)

Well, well...  Another year, another failure by Ireland to win the Six Nations rugby contest.   ???  We did pretty well last year, so we thought we had a chance this year, but the truth is that we weren't up to scratch, and those who won deserved to win.  :)

I do enjoy rugby, but I have to say that my personal sport of choice to watch would be hurling (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurling).  It is the best game in the world.  So fast, so skillful...  Better than Quidditch, even if Quidditch really did exist!  The ability to balance the small sliotar on the tip of the hurley while running at full speed up the pitch, then sliding it swiftly into the air and shooting it up to another player at speeds of up to 150 km/h...  Those men (and the women who play the female version, camogie) are heroes to me.  :)

In a sense, it is!   ;D  A mighty battle between sporting titans!  ;)  Actually, I often wonder if it didn't have martial origins....   :o

I'm thinking of deleting this thread after England's dreadful showing in New Zealand at the weekend. England's U20 side also lost to NZ in the World Cup final, but at least the Saxons won the Churchill cup.
