News: Dragon Age revealed!

Last week, I got a chance to go over to Bioware's studios in Edmonton and take a look at Dragon Age. Over the next few days (as I work out the NDA), I'll be posting some of my thoughts and experiences, so check out the home page!

Actually, here's the funny thing: I had some soup with bacon in it and it turned out to be a sort of sorry fatty ham. That said, the breakfast bacon was good - and the toolset even better.

Oh, forget it!

A less direct one, then! Will the NWN community be mostly dead after they release DA:O? You know, having read the impressions of Ben and the others who were there (Lucky, lucky bastards! GRRR!), I'm kinda guessing me and most other SP modders will vamooze from NWN...

Heck, no! Unstrike that question. Did you see any evidence of an area editor?

That's a dealbreaker issue for me. If DA has an area editor, then I'll consider building with it when it comes out. Otherwise, I'll really have no use for it.

Bioware haven't made any comments on that question - they're just not answering it. Make of that what you will, I just tow the party line on anything not officially released.

No need for that -- I won't kill the messenger.

And I'm sure that there are plenty of folks for whom that's not the kind of issue it is for me. If I learn enough about modeling in the next few years (and can afford the software) it may cease to be as much of an impediment to me as well. I'm just speaking from my current perspective as an amateur modder. If it doesn't have all the tools necessary for an amateur modder to build with, then amateur modders won't build with it.

Of course not.

If I've understood coreectly Dragon Age will majorly differ from the world of Dungeon & Dragons. Because D&D is an important part of roleplaying culture and has over 30 years of history it is very unlikely that people would just abandon its rich world.

I think DA will kill off most of NWN1 and NWN2, but not all of it because of DA not having MP capabilities. Those who want to play MP will probably stick to NWN1 & NWN2.
