Since I'm keeping track of earthquakes, we had another one yesterday of 6.5.

Oh, that's a pretty good shake.  Hope you didn't have any damage.  We have little ones here in the San Francisco Bay Area all the time.  The largest we've had lately was a 5.2 in Silicon Valley.  It shook my house pretty good and I live 30 miles away from the epicenter.  I'd assume you're a little more active.  We're due for a big one, but I hope not for a while.

*fingers crossed, knocking on all the wood I can find, throwing a pinch of salt over my shoulder, clutching the Rabbit's foot, looking for a 4 leaf clover, etc.*

Hey Ben,

Have you considered moving to a nice hurricane area, or perhaps somewhere with tornados?  Might be safer.

I read that there was a 6.2 in Nevada today actually.

It would be bad if an earthquake hit here, considering that I live in an ancient volcano crater.

The worst part about the Nevada quake is it happened on a fault that hasn't been active since the recording of earthquakes started.  None of the buildings were braced for it.  There were many buldings that collapsed in the town closest to the epicenter and the closest hospital is 50 miles (about 85km) away!  There weren't any reports of injuries as the earthquake happened early this morning, but it's wierd.  We've seen a lot of inactive faults in earthquake country hitting in the last few years.

Everyone is welcome to come on down to Florida, no earthquakes.
We do have Tornados, we're actually number one this year for that, even Kansas didn't come close.

Take that Dorothy. heh heh, (Wizard of Oz reference)

Haha!  I'm only 30.  Isn't there a minimum age you have to be to move to Florida?  I'm way too young.  :P

Don't forget about them Hurricanes too.  I'll stick to Earthquake country, thank you very much.  I don't want to have to deal with boarding up my house, moving somewhere else while the storm passes, etc.  I'm too lazy.  ;)

I have shutters that slide into place, takes about 20 minutes. We weathered all 4 storms that hit a few years back. I'm so glad I have back-up power.

btw...all the Senior citizens down here really aren't that bad, they make excellent neighbors. :)

5.2 here in England last night. The biggest in the UK for about 20 years, or so I'm told. Oddly enough I had a great night's sleep last night, despite friends I've spoken to saying their houses were shaking - the earthquake was a long way away from Lankysheeeeee though. Apparently someone from Amsterdam said they'd felt it: "Because a bike outside fell over in the night, and the shutters blew open." I don't mean to be harsh, but surely the concepts of wind, as well as prank-bound children at least crossed the Netherlander in question's mind?
Thanks!

What is the world coming to when England gets earthquakes?! ...and let's not forget the mini tornado's....and the fact that the cherry blossom tress have flowered in the last 2-3 weeks, and the daffodils are up..oh yes, and the very strange warm weather we are having here in London at least.

I think we've been taken over by aliens and England is really some other country right now. Let's face it, a leaf on our rail tracks puts the whole train system into meltdown, anything more than that and you know summit is drastically wrong  ::)

I've been saying that for years.  Finally a native notices!  :P  It's the "lets boil it to add flavor" thing.  Although, you people across the pond sure know how to fry fish.

Incidentally, as a non-Londoner I find the train system fairly adequate. Then again I rarely go any further than Blackpool in one direction and Manchester in the other...
Thanks!

lol, well to tell the truth I very rarely use the trains down here. I once got lost on the circle line for an hour....

.....now post me a Lancashire HotPot as punishment for admitting to being a northerner!  :o ;D
